DTG technology allows for vibrant, photo-quality prints with stunning detail. It’s excellent for intricate artwork, colourful graphics, and designs with gradients or shading that can’t be achieved with other methods like screen printing.
3. Fast Turnaround:
With minimal setup required, DTG printing is fast and efficient. Once your artwork is good to go, we can get your order into production quickly—perfect when you're working with a tight timeline.
4. Environmentally Friendly:
We use water-based, non-toxic, vegan-friendly inks in our DTG process. It's a more eco-conscious choice that still delivers amazing results.
5. Great for Customisation:
Want to print different names, designs, or variations on each garment? DTG makes customisation easy without the extra cost of multiple setups.

DTG Printing FAQs
Are there set ups costs for DTG printing?
Nope, none! There are absolutely no setup costs for DTG printing.
What's the minimum order for DTG printing?
There are no minimum order quantities or setup fees when you choose DTG printing—perfect for small runs and one-off custom pieces!
What's the turnaround time for DTG printing?
What's the maximum size for a DTG print?
The maximum DTG print size is 390mm wide x 490mm high, but this oversized print doesn’t suit all garments and sizes—so it’s not available through the online designer. If you’d like to request it, just leave us a note in the instructions box at checkout.
Keep in mind: oversized prints aren’t possible on kids’ garments, most women’s styles, or smaller unisex sizes. We’ll always check your order and let you know if there are any issues.
The standard print size in the online designer is 350mm wide x 400mm high.
What if I have youth sizes and adult sizes in my order?
Can you match my brand colours with DTG?
DTG printing can produce over 16 million colours, and while the results are bright and vibrant, exact Pantone colour matching isn’t possible — but we get pretty close! If colour accuracy is super important, especially for larger orders, we highly recommend ordering a sample first.
DTG printing is great for vibrant colours and detailed designs, but it does have a few limits. It can’t produce specialty effects like metallics, neons, glow-in-the-dark inks, or puff finishes. If your design includes these, screen printing or another method may be a better option — and we’re always happy to help guide you!
How many colours can I use with DTG?
Can I provide my own shirts for DTG?
Yes, we can print on BYO stock but we’ll need to review all the details first to make sure the items are suitable. We do prefer to supply the garments ourselves, as we buy blanks in high volumes and receive some of the best pricing available—so it’s often more cost-effective for you if we handle it. Let us know what you're working with, and we’ll let you know if it’s suitable.
If you do decide on BYO, we’ll provide you with a BYO information sheet to sign off on before we begin your order. This outlines everything you need to know, including how to provide your stock and what happens if something goes wrong—because hey, we’re only human!
What products can I print on with DTG?
How long do DTG printed tees last?
With the right care, DTG prints typically last around 40+ washes before you’ll notice any fading. In many cases, they can last even longer — it all depends on a few key factors.
The type of artwork plays a role (for example, large solid areas tend to wear faster than simple text or logos), along with how the garment is washed and dried, how much sun exposure it gets, and the overall quality of the fabric. A little extra care goes a long way in keeping your prints looking great!
What are the artwork requirements for DTG printing?
To get the best results with DTG, your artwork needs to be clean, high-quality, and properly formatted. Here’s what we recommend:
File Type:
- Best option: PNG with a transparent background
- Also accepted: High-res JPGs (suitable for white garments or full-coverage prints)
- Avoid: Low-res images, SVGs, and PDFs – they can lead to unexpected colour results
Resolution:
- Minimum: 150dpi
- Recommended: 300dpi
Low-resolution files may appear blurry or pixelated when printed.
File Size:
Your file should be set at the final print size. Resizing later can affect quality.
Colour Mode:
- Save your file in RGB. DTG printers convert colours to CMYK on output, but starting in RGB helps preserve vibrancy.
Backgrounds & Transparency:
- For coloured garments, transparent backgrounds are a must (no white boxes around your design!).
- On white garments, a JPG with a white background can be okay — but transparency is still preferred.
Design Simplicity
- DTG is great for detailed, full-colour artwork — including photos and gradients — but clean, bold linework will always give the best results.
- Very fine details can get lost on textured fabrics and large solid backgrounds should be avoided. Transparent, semi-transparent, and glow effects also don’t print well. To avoid unwanted halos or patchy prints, make sure these areas are converted to solid colours.
Not sure if your file will work?
No stress — we’re happy to check it for you and suggest any tweaks before printing.
